After his resurrection, Jesus appeared to various groups of his disciples over forty days. So why didn’t he appear to the Jewish leaders, or to Pilate, and prove that he was who he said he was?
I believe it has to do with faith. Those leaders didn’t believe in him before his death; much like the parable of the rich man and Lazarus, “they would not believe, even if someone were to rise from the dead.”
I believe it also has to do with a privilege Jesus shares with us. When he was in the body, he could only be in one place at a time. After the resurrection, in his now-glorified body, he was still in one place at a time. But with the coming of the Holy Spirit to live inside believers, Jesus can show himself to many people at once, in the day-to-day living of those who follow him.
When the resurrection is more than “something I believe in,” when you’ve experienced the risen Christ, your life will show his reality. Have you experienced Jesus, alive and well and living in you?
